Trivia[]

  • Time is described as an illusion of perception; past, present and future are all present at the same time (so to speak). What shifts is where we direct our attention. In temporal philosophy, this is called 'the block universe'. The 'growing block universe' differs only in that the future doesn't exist yet. The block universe was a major plot point in the miniseries FlashForward.
  • The episode title Periculum is Latin for "Danger". However, it was believed to be translated as "The Trial".
  • The Witchblade is shown in this episode to assume an organic form during the Periculum. This is likely a nod to how the Witchblade assumes organic-like shapes in the comics. However, after passing the Periculum, the bracelet form of the Witchblade has two pieces of metal that appear to have dug into Sara's right arm.
  • One of the potential origins of the Witchblade given in this episode is that it is a branch ripped from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
  • Once Sara passes the Periculum, the Witchblade bonds with her on a cellular level, making her the most highly evolved life-form on the planet.
    • According to Irons, the Witchblade, upon Sara passing the Periculum, makes Sara's blood invaluable due to its life-prolonging abilities.
  • In a segment on the DVD of the series, Gabriel Bowman explains the Periculum.
  • Irons reveals in this episode that he killed Elizabeth Bronte, a previous wielder of the Witchblade.
  • Sara reveals that she saw The Terminator and that the time travel aspect of it made her head hurt.
